The situation of Kashmir was a bit different than the one in Gilgit-Baltistan where Gilgit Scouts staged a coup against the governor of Giligit Agency. Maharaja Hari singh was pondering over the question of joining India and Pakistan. Pakistan suspected that Maharaja Hari Singh would accede to India. Sheikh Abdullah was also not in favour of acceding to Pakistan. Hence took the decision to seize Kashmir by force.
