In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil talks about National Anthem of India, Jana Gana Mana. Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore composed the first draft win 1908 and was originally composed as Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata in Bengali.
First it was recited during the 1911 session of congress when George V the king of Britain visited india. A controversy arose when some newspaper said that Tagore wrote and recited the song in praise of George V. Rabindranath Tagore refuted this is several statement. In 1942 Subhash Chandra Bose termed it as national anthem of India in Germany. And subsequently The first stanza was adopted by the Constituent Assembly of India as the National Anthem on 24 January 1950.
