Team Lallantop met with a group of labourers at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Ganga Bridge in Roorkee. The labourers had two main concerns – unemployment and lack of resources. One of them stated that election candidates provide food but for only some days. On other days, the city council does not provide them with proper firewood allotted to them. The daily wages also have also been reduced substantially and has affected the lives of these people. They have their concerns regarding the choice of candidates and elected representatives but they look at elections with hope of some relief for them. Uttarakhand assembly elections are scheduled for one round of Voting on 14 February. Results will be declared on March 10. BJP is currently in power in Uttarakhand with CM Pushkar Singh Dhami at the helm.
