The Karnataka government on Sunday decided to give ‘Y’ category security to three judges, including the chief justice of the state, who passed the ruling on the hijab controversy.
This comes amid the backdrop of statements made in Madurai threatening to kill the judges. An FIR has been registered in Bangalore on the same.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai attacked the opposition by calling them “fake secular” as they did not condemn the Madurai incident.
He said, “Why are the “fake secular” lobby silent even after 3-4 days of the incident? People threaten to kill judges because of the verdict and they talk about how judges will meet with accidents. Even after this, why are you all silent, just to appease the section? That is not secularism, it is communalism. I condemn this and you all should break your silence and we should be united.”
CM asked the state DGP to look into the investigation and coordinate with Tamil Nadu to seek custody of the accused. The accused have been booked based on complaints made by private citizens.
