Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant-Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, held prayers at the Martand Sun Temple at Mattan. This hasn’t settled well with many and has triggered a controversy with ASI (Archaeological Survey of India).
As per the norms, no religious prayers are held at ASI-protected sites across India. It can happen only if the place of worship is operational. The JK government however, has denied allegations of violation. The Martand Temple situated in Anantnag district of Kashmir is an eighth-century ancient temple.
