Oscars are a set of 24 awards for artistic and technical merit in the American film industry, given annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), to recognize excellence in cinematic achievements as assessed by the Academy’s voting membership. The awards, first presented in 1929 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, are overseen by AMPAS.
But, after so many years, many Indian movies like Mother India, Salaam Bombay, Lagaan entered the competition but failed to win an academy award. But, beyond that, many Indian people worked in foreign films and won the award for their hard work.
