The question has been often raised that when will Muslim population surpass the Hindu population in India? 2011 Census on basis of religion reveals that it would take over 270 years for such kind of thing to happen. Hindu population currently stands at 96.63 crore while Muslim population in the country at percent stands at 17.22 crore. Although the growth rate Muslim population is higher than the Hindus but practically it is impossible for Muslims to surpass Hindu population in India.
