The Barbigha assembly constituency in Sheikhpura district of Bihar is considered very important from a political point of view. In this area, the ancestral village of Dr. Srikrishna Singh, the first Chief Minister of Bihar. Like the Sheikhpura seat, the Congress is also dominating here. In 2015 assembly elections, Sudarshan Kumar, grandson of late Rajo Singh, a veteran Congress leader from the Grand Alliance, was made a candidate on a Congress ticket. In the election, he defeated his nearest rival NDA candidate Shiv Kumar by 14 thousand votes. Now he is contesting the election on JDU ticket.
