Budget 2021: Nirmala Sitharaman announced a hike in import duty and a new custom policy to be effective from October 1, 2021, after which Mobile phones could be pricier and gold could be cheaper. Union Budget 2021-22 is Nirmala Sitharaman’s third consecutive budget before the Parliament and is a challenging one as she has an enormous task of managing to bring the economy back to pre-COVID levels and to tackle the curveballs thrown by the coronavirus crisis. With the economic growth at a 10-year low, widening fiscal deficit, and inflation at its peak, the entire country, and the world watched this budget very closely.
