Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, during a debate on the soaring onion prices in Parliament on December 4, was asked by a parliamentarian if she ate onions. Responding to this, Nirmala Sitharaman said she doesn’t eat much onion-garlic and she belongs to a family that has little use for onions. Her clip has gone viral on social media. Opposition parties are criticizing Nirmala Sitharaman for the statement. However, her statement is being shared out of context.
