A day after he was allegedly held hostage by Bhagalpur villagers, Janata Dal-United (JDU) legislator Gopal Mandal remained defiant and claimed his men who had accompanied him were all armed and were ready to retaliate if they attacked him. As he claimed that he and his men were ready to retaliate if villagers attacked him, Gopal Mandal said, “I am a fighter. It was very much possible that I could have killed the villagers in a fit of rage. After the budget session is over I will run a bulldozer over construction that has taken place on the land once it is proved that the land does not belong to villagers but me.” Mandal was later released by villagers after the police intervened.
