Congress MP Deependra Hooda in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday said the economy chair has four legs. The MP described consumption or demand, investment, export, and government spending as the four legs of the economy chair. Talking about the investment rate, he said that it was 14 percent during the UPA regime, which was reduced to just two percent in the NDA government. Describing credit and bank loans as a means of investment, it said that there was a decrease in the NDA government as compared to UPA. Regarding private consumption growth, Hooda said that it was 24 percent per annum at the time of UPA, it has now come down to 9 percent. The export growth rate was 21 percent from 2004 to 2014, which has come down to just 3 percent from 2014 to 2020 under the NDA regime.
