Bollywood filmmaker Santosh Gupta’s wife and daughter named Asmita and Srishti Gupta allegedly committed suicide by immolating themselves at their home in suburban Andheri here, police said on Wednesday. The duo was rushed to Cooper Hospital, where Asmita was declared dead on arrival, while Srishti, who suffered 70 per cent burns. According to preliminary probe, Asmita had allegedly taken the extreme step, as she suffered from a prolonged kidney ailment and the daughter committed suicide due to the trauma of her mother’s illness.
