In today’s episode of Lallantop Adda With Doctors, we have with us Dr. Ujjwal Rathore who is currently working as a virologist and vaccine expert at University of California, San Francisco. He has been working with human viruses for more than 10 years. He completed his Ph.D. in Molecular Biophysics from the Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore (IISc). During his PhD, he designed vaccines against viruses such as Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Influenza Virus. He then moved to the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) in 2018 to do further research on viral diseases. He has been a part of a large team at UCSF that works on all major human pathogenic viruses and use genetic engineering to understand and treat viral infections.
In this episode, Dr. Rathore will be talking about the core aspects of coronavirus (1) Rapid diagnostic testing (2) Understanding virus biology to find out which existing and new drugs can work against it (3) Increasing efficiency of vaccines besides other relevant subjects.
