Satwik-Chirag defeated Great Britain in their last group stage mach but still fall short of qualifying for the Quarter Finals. After beting Britain’s Ben Lane and Sean Vendy by 21-17, 21-19, the Indians won two of their three matches but finished third in the group stage. Only the top two in each group advance to the quarter-finals. In Group A all three teams won two matches each so the top two were selected on the basis of each team’s won/loss ratio. Indonesia topped the group with a game difference of +3, Chinese Taipei with +2 bagged second spot whereas with +1 game difference the Indians were at third spot. For the Indian to qualify it was necessary that Indian team defeats the British as well as the Chinese Taipei pair should loose to the world number 1 Indonesian team.
However Chinese Taipei’s team won the match 21-18, 15-21, 21-17 against the Indonesian and booked a place for them in top 8.
