Qatar Air Blockade: International Court of Justice (ICJ) rejected the appeal by Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt. These four countries has appealed the ICJ to declare that the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has no jurisdiction in the Qatar Air Blockade case. ICJ rejected this appeal by saying that ICAO has jurisdiction in the case. Qatar air blockade started on June 5, 2017. The four Arab countries led by Saudi severed official ties with Doha in June 2017 accusing the country of supporting extremists. In addition, these four countries closed their airspace to Qatari aircraft. Qatar’s close relations with Saudi Arabia’s regional rival Iran is the main reason behind this feud.
