In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil narrates the 1981 hijacking incident when 5 Khalistan Supporters hijacked an Indian Boing 737. The hijackers boarded the flight in Amritsar in took it to Lahore. Pakistani SSG Commando unit run a rescue operation and captured the militants. All of the passengers and crew returned safely to India. The hijackers faced trial in Pakistan and they were sentenced to life imprisonment. Two of the hijackers, Satnam Singh and Tajinder Pal Singh were deported to India in 2000. In 2008 A Delhi court discharged as they had already served their sentence in Pakistan.
