According to a Wall Street Journal report, China was engaged in construction of secret Chinese military facility near a port in Abu Dhabi. After defence department Reports, Biden Administration intervened and reached out to UAE Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan. US warned UAE that presence of Chinese military could threaten ties between them. After this intervention, the construction has been stopped.
In another news according to a US defence department report, US has increased the number of US troops in Taiwan in last Year. Taiwan has stationed fighter jets at its borders in response to the threat posed by China in recent months.
In another news, Thousand of people in Gwadar have erupted in massive protest against unnecessary check posts, acute shortage of water and electricity and threats to livelihood from illegal fishing. Discontent among the local populace is growing due to China’s presence in Gwadar, which is an integral part of the USD 60 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project (CPEC), the flagship project of China’s multi-billion-dollar Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)
