The MPC (Monetary Policy Committee) again increased the repo rate by 50 basis points. The RBI made this announcement on Wednesday, increasing the repo rate from 4.40% to 4.90%. Although the inflation rate was projected at 6.7% for the financial year 2022-23, but the central bank is hopeful that the economy will grow at 7.2% in the current fiscal.
The MPC took 3 days to deliberate and the announcement was made later by RBI Governor, Shaktikant Das.
