The second session of discussion was about freedom fighter Narasimha Reddy. Narasimha Reddy belonged to Koilkuntala taluk under present Andhra Pradesh. Narasimha belonged to a polygar family. When the British started snatching the rights of the Polygars and other farmers under the Ryotwari system, Narasimha Reddy started a rebellion against the British on 23 July 1846, taking all the farmers along. Eventually the British caught him and publicly hanged him on 22 February 1847.
The discussion in the next session centered on the recently released Aamir Khan’s film Lal Singh Chaddha. Actor, producer and famous politician Udhayanidhi Stalin’s production house Red Joint Movies released Lal Singh Chaddha. Last month, both Kamal Haasan and Aamir Khan were present on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of Red Giant Movies. This company selects great and important films for Tamil cinema. Udhayanidhi Stalin attends a press conference called by the team of director Advait Chandan’s ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’. During this he said, ”I had bunked school to watch Aamir Khan’s film ‘Rangeela.”
Apart from this, the mid-day meal scheme of Karnataka was also discussed in this episode. Karnataka’s Department of School Education and Literacy has now proposed to introduce jowar roti and ragi balls apart from egg, banana and shenga chikki in the mid-day meal scheme. And for this, the central government has demanded jowar and ragi at concessional rates. However, this proposal is still waiting for the approval of the central government. Apart from this, the controversy over the proposal to include eggs in the mid-day meal for the children of government schools in Karnataka has also been discussed.
