In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil talks about India’s First official police encounter. On 11 January 1982, A police team shot Underworld don, Manohar Arjun Surve alias Manya Surve in broad daylight. Surve was one who killed Dawood Ibrahim’s Brother Shabir Kaskar on behalf of Karim lala gang/ pathan gang. Surve’s death became known as Mumbai’s first recorded encounter killing.
