Kitabi Baatein. A daily show based on books, in which we intend to pick one different book everyday and explain 3-4 interesting anecdotes from the book. Unlike a book review, this series will be centered around the anecdotes and information about the book.

In today’s third episode of Kitabi Baatein, we have picked Aleph Publications book, “TAGORE AND GANDHI: WALKING ALONE, WALKING TOGETHER” . Written by eminent historian Rudrangshu Mukherjee, this book traces the trajectory of the lives of Tagore and Gandhi, their contrasting status in society, their upbringing and their divergent approaches towards a collective target. Both were giants in their chosen fields — Tagore was the foremost literary figure in Bengal, while Gandhi emerged as a prime campaigner against injustice of British rule in India.

Key-points of Kitabi Baatein:-
1.) Why Tagore and his elder brother came to blows with each other?

2.) What was the content of the letter Rajendra Prasad wrote to Mahatma Gandhi that led to the verbal argument between Tagore and Gandhi?

3.) The amicable exchange of letters between Gandhi and Tagore after his Shantiniketan visit.

4.) Tagore’s change of thoughts on Nationalism.
