#Russian soldiers allegedly raped women in war-torn #Ukraine, several reports claimed. Recently, a Ukrainian MP said a probe had been launched after a woman filed an official complaint. Earlier, several reports had quoted another Ukrainian MP Lesia Vasylenko saying that there were reports of “Russian troops on the outskirts of Kyiv sexually abusing senior citizens who were unable to flee as Russian armour descended on their towns”.
Wars and conflict destroy lives, livelihoods, the economy, families and much more but women are disproportionately affected by them. Existing inequalities and inequities get magnified and even decades after a conflict, women continue to suffer the hardest byproducts of war.
