On the 67th day of the Russia Ukraine conflict, the west has lined up two new weapons set to join the artillery of the war-torn country. US President Joe Biden has cleared consignments of M777 155 mm ultra-light artillery guns for Ukraine and this handy weapon is also in service with the Indian Army. This is an ultra-light howitzer gun with the capability to fire shells at ranges of anywhere between 25-40 kilometres.
A senior official from the US defense department said, “We do believe that these howitzers will be … very, very effective in helping [the Ukrainians] in the Donbas fight, which we’ve already seen, is deeply reliant on long-range fires, specifically artillery by both sides.” Stay tuned with India Today for the latest news and updates.
