Congress Party’s treasurer, Ajay Makan, has recently made a bold statement – their party’s bank accounts have allegedly been frozen by the Income Tax Department. Further reinforcing this alarming claim, Congress Member of Parliament, Vivek Tanka, clarified in a video message that this move was enforced by the IT tribunal, allowing the party to operate the accounts moving forward, albeit with certain limitations. He stated that there would have to be a designated amount in the party’s bank accounts. Previously, Makan had argued that banks were refusing to honour the cheques presented by the party. He even alleged that the IT Department demanded the recovery of a staggering 210 crore rupees.
