India’s Nikhat Zareen has won gold in the Boxing World Championships defeating Thailand’s Jutamas Jitpong by an unanimous decision in the finals. Highly rated Indian lightweight boxer Nikhat Zareen was India’s first ever representative in the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championship. She stared off her bout pretty aggressively hitting her opponent with big right hand jabs.
Nikhat, the former junior champion has been a much talked about prospect in the Indian women’s boxing scene.
She is seen as someone who can take the mantle from the legendary Mary Kom who has been a tremendous servant to Indian boxing for many years.
