Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Rameshwaram on 28 February to inaugurate the new Pamban Bridge. The 2.1-kilometre railway bridge, constructed at a cost of ₹550 crore, connects mainland India to Pamban Island in Tamil Nadu. The project, which took six years to complete, replaces the old bridge that had become unusable due to corrosion. The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to last three hours.
