China has started building the world’s biggest hydroelectric dam near India’s border on the Yarlung Tsangpo River — known as Brahmaputra in India. This massive project is coming up in Tibet’s Nyingchi region, near Arunachal Pradesh. The project, estimated at over $167 billion, will generate 300 billion kWh power annually and could supply electricity to 300 million people. But India and Bangladesh are worried. Earthquake-prone zone, ecological imbalance, and potential water war — is China creating a weapon disguised as a dam?
