Tarikh | Episode 1029 | 28 July 2025 – Samudragupta

Samudragupta was a powerful Gupta emperor often called the Napoleon of India.
Samudragupta expanded the Gupta empire from Magadha, using different policies for the subjugation of North & South.
His life and military campaigns are primarily documented in the Prayag Prashasti (Allahabad Pillar Inscription), composed by his court poet Harishena.
Samudragupta was not just a warrior; he was also a patron of arts and culture, earning the title “Kaviraja” (king of poets) and being depicted playing the veena on his coins.
Despite his vast conquests, he left some kingdoms like the Vakatakas untouched, possibly due to a strategic alliance.
