Amid rising trade tensions, President Donald Trump has announced a steep tariff hike on Indian imports, accusing India of profiting from discounted Russian oil and ignoring the Ukraine crisis. India’s Ministry of External Affairs has strongly countered the claims, pointing out the hypocrisy of the West. Citing official data, MEA revealed that the European Union traded over €67.5 billion with Russia in 2024 and imported 16.5 million tonnes of LPG, which is more than India’s total trade with Moscow. MEA also accused the US of importing Russian uranium hexafluoride and palladium while unfairly targeting India.
