Fifteen years after he orchestrated the massacre of 76 CRPF jawans in Dantewada, Madhvi Hidma is no more. The dreaded PLGA commander and Central Committee member of CPI (Maoist), who carried a reward of 1.8 crore on his head, was killed this morning in a meticulously planned joint operation by Andhra Pradesh Greyhounds, CRPF and Chhattisgarh DRG.
From the 2013 Jhiram Ghati massacre that wiped out almost the entire Congress state leadership to the 2021 Sukma-Bijapur ambush that claimed 22 lives, Hidma’s name was synonymous with the bloodiest phase of Left-wing insurgency. His elimination is being seen as the single biggest blow to the Maoists since the 2021 neutralisation of Milind Teltumbde, and perhaps the most decisive step yet towards the government’s declared deadline of ending Naxalism by March 2026.
