Bangladesh plunged into chaos after the death of student leader and political activist Sharif Osman Hadi, triggering violent protests across Dhaka and other cities. Angry mobs targeted media houses, attacking and setting fire to the offices of Prothom Alo and The Daily Star, trapping journalists inside and brutally assaulting senior journalist Nurul Kabir. The unrest has raised serious concerns over press safety, police inaction, and the rapidly deteriorating law and order situation in the country.
