A case of alleged mass killing of stray dogs has surfaced in Telangana’s Kamareddy district. Around 200 stray dogs reportedly went missing and were later found dead on village outskirts, with allegations that they were poisoned and given lethal injections. Police have registered cases against nine people, including village sarpanches and their associates. The complaint was filed by a representative of the Stray Animal Foundation of India. Reports suggest the death toll may have reached nearly 500 within a week. Authorities are investigating the incident, and forensic tests are underway. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has expressed concern over stray dog-related issues and the lack of proper implementation of animal welfare rules.
