Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar died in a tragic plane crash on Wednesday morning near Baramati airport. The accident happened while his chartered aircraft was attempting to land. Five people, including Ajit Pawar, two pilots and security personnel, lost their lives.
Initial reports suggest the aircraft faced difficulties during landing due to poor visibility caused by dense fog. The plane made two landing attempts before disappearing from radar and crashing near the runway. The Bombardier Learjet 45, operated by VSR Ventures, was around 16 years old.
The crash site showed complete destruction, with debris, fire and thick smoke. The Maharashtra government has announced three days of state mourning. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident.
