Putin, who condemned US and Israeli actions against Iran and the killing of Khamenei, is viewed as closely aligned with Gulf nations including Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Gulf Cooperative Council countries, whose territories host US bases now targeted by Iranian counterstrikes, find themselves in the line of fire despite opposing the initial attacks on Iran. These nations had pleaded for dialogue to avoid regional turmoil, warning of economic and human consequences. Following emergency meetings, GCC foreign ministers have warned Iran against targeting them. Saudi Arabia summoned the Iranian ambassador, emphasising that Iran was attacking brother Islamic countries that had not attacked Iran. The Gulf region, traditionally an oasis of peace and business hub, now faces unprecedented security threats as missile defences intercept Iranian strikes.
