The government maintained that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, kerosene, aviation turbine fuel or fuel oil, asserting that retail outlets are stocked and supply chains are functioning normally. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing the centre of inadequate planning. The issue has sparked protests in Parliament and intensified political confrontations between the government and opposition across multiple states.
