India has formally raised strong objections with Iran after reported firing on Indian-flagged merchant vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met Iranian envoy Dr. Mohammad Fatahali, emphasizing the importance of maritime safety and secure shipping routes. The Ministry of External Affairs urged Iran to ensure safe passage for Indian vessels. Reports suggest IRGC naval units opened fire, forcing ships, including a supertanker carrying Iraqi oil, to turn back. Iranian representatives acknowledged the concern, highlighting strong India-Iran ties while calling for calm and resolution.
