US President Donald Trump has threatened to target Iranian bridges and power plants if Iran rejects a US peace deal. Amid these tensions, US forces enforced a naval blockade in the North Arabian Sea by intercepting the Iranian-flagged merchant vessel MV Tosca. After the ship ignored warnings for six hours, the guided-missile destroyer USS Truxtun fired on its propulsion system. US Marines from the USS Tripoli then boarded and seized the vessel. The US Central Command released a statement confirming the operation and the enforcement of the blockade. In response, Iran condemned the seizure as piracy and an act of war, subsequently closing the Strait of Hormuz. The escalation occurs as US Vice President JD Vance, accompanied by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, arrives in Islamabad for peace talks. While Iran initially stated it would not attend the dialogue, reports suggest Tehran is reconsidering participation, with its delegation expected to be led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Sayyed Abbas Araghchi.
