In a recent interview, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke about the Bharatiya Janata Party’s chances in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly election.
He pointed to huge crowds at roadshows in Kolkata and support for BJP candidate Roopa Ganguly as signs of growing popularity. Shah said the BJP has grown from 2 seats to 77 and is now aiming for a full majority.
He dismissed concerns about voter turnout and said people will vote freely. He also warned that if All India Trinamool Congress workers try to disrupt voting, they will face public anger.
Amit Shah criticised the current state government over women’s safety and promised that under BJP rule, women would feel safe even late at night.
Women’s security, he said, is a top priority for the BJP in West Bengal.
