Twenty-five AIADMK MLAs are currently holed up in a Puducherry resort, pushing to support Vijay’s TVK in forming the Tamil Nadu government. Led by C.V. Shanmugam, the faction is seeking power-sharing and ministerial berths with TVK. Despite the move, Shanmugam maintains there is no split within the AIADMK and Edappadi K. Palaniswami remains the general secretary. Meanwhile, 23 AIADMK MLAs remain loyal to EPS, who previously rejected an alliance with TVK. TVK leader Vijay has staked a claim to form the government, presenting the support of 112 MLAs, including 107 from TVK and five from the Congress, leaving him six seats short of the majority figure. The Governor is seeking legal opinion before inviting Vijay to form the government. Back-channel talks are reportedly ongoing between AIADMK and TVK, while AIADMK MLAs have strongly rejected any potential alliance with the DMK, threatening to resign over the issue.
