West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s personal assistant Chandranath Rath was shot dead in a planned attack just days after the BJP formed government in the state. Police have now arrested three accused from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in a joint operation.
Investigators say the breakthrough came after the accused made a UPI payment at a toll plaza near Kolkata. CCTV footage and digital evidence helped the SIT trace the suspects and reconstruct their escape route. Police suspect a larger conspiracy, with around 8 people possibly involved in the murder plot.
