While the former state head accused the opposition of intimidating medical professionals, the rival party completely denied any involvement in the attack. Rival political leaders attributed the violence to public anger and past actions of the state’s ruling faction, dismissing allegations of a coordinated conspiracy while highlighting previous attacks on their own leaders.
