ndia has strongly protested after three Indian sailors were killed in a US naval strike near Oman. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar spoke with Marco Rubio and conveyed India’s objection, saying lethal action against commercial vessels cannot be justified. The strike targeted the merchant ship MT Settabello, which carried 24 Indian crew members; 21 were rescued while three died. India had earlier summoned a senior US diplomat to lodge a formal protest. The incident has raised concerns over the safety of Indian seafarers as multiple commercial ships with Indian crews have recently come under attack in the Gulf region.
