A clash broke out between supporters of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at Kolkata Airport on June 19, shortly before TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee arrived from Delhi. Videos from the scene showed scuffles, pushing, and physical altercations between rival groups, prompting intervention by police and security personnel. TMC supporters alleged that BJP workers had gathered at the airport carrying eggs to protest against Abhishek Banerjee, while BJP supporters denied wrongdoing. Following the incident, police arrested five individuals, including former South Dumdum municipal councillor Sabyasachi Dutta. Abhishek Banerjee later raised concerns over airport security and shared a video of the incident on social media. The clash has triggered a fresh political controversy in West Bengal.
