A major construction site accident in Kolkata’s Taratala area has left at least five workers dead and several others injured after the roof of an under-construction warehouse collapsed near Brace Bridge on Transport Depot Road. According to reports, around 40–50 workers were present inside the structure when the incident occurred.
Rescue teams from Kolkata Police, Disaster Management Group (DMG), Civil Defence, Fire & Emergency Services, and the Indian Army rushed to the spot and launched a massive rescue operation. So far, 13 workers have been pulled out from the debris, while several others are still feared trapped. Nine injured workers have been admitted to SSKM Hospital, with five reported to be in critical condition.
