A major political row has erupted in Tamil Nadu as the ruling TVK and opposition DMK accuse each other of attempting to poach legislators with financial offers and threats. The police arrested three individuals accused of threatening a TVK lawmaker to vote in favour of the DMK in the legislative assembly. Investigators allege that a pollster offered thirty-five crore rupees to the lawmaker to support a resolution against the speaker, issuing threats when the offer was rejected. Meanwhile, the DMK has demanded a vigilance inquiry and submitted a complaint to the governor seeking an investigation into alleged poaching attempts by the chief minister, citing statements made by an allied party leader.
