The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has accused gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his closest associate, Goldy Brar, of orchestrating the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The United States has simultaneously cracked down on three major Indian criminal gangs. Twenty-four people have been arrested. A total of 37 individuals have been charged across three separate indictments. Among them are two accused who were running their international gangs while being locked up in Indian jails—Lawrence Bishnoi and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria. The arrests took place in Canada and Spain.
