Floodwaters are gradually receding in Assam, but the crisis is far from over. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), more than 5.24 lakh people remain affected across five districts, while thousands continue to stay in relief camps. Rescue operations by the Army, NDRF, SDRF, Fire & Emergency Services, and police are still underway.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that electricity is being restored in phases across the affected districts. However, hundreds of villages remain inundated, thousands of hectares of crops have been damaged, and the flood continues to impact both people and livestock.
