The Supreme Court has issued major interim directions in connection with the police crackdown on the July 20 student protest in Delhi. The court has ordered the Centre and several states to preserve all CCTV, drone, and body-camera footage related to the protests. It has also barred coercive action against protesters until further orders and directed the release of detained minors with no criminal record.
The court observed that the allegations are serious enough to warrant a high-powered probe. It has also agreed to hear a petition by an advocate who alleged assault and illegal detention while helping detained protesters. Watch this report for all the key developments from the Supreme Court hearing.
