On the third Monday of Sawan, a large number of devotees gathered at Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar Temple for darshan. A huge crowd also arrived to visit the Nagchandreshwar Temple, whose doors open only once a year. During the rush, crowd pressure suddenly increased near the barricaded area in front of the Harsiddhi Temple, creating stampede-like conditions. The temple committee, however, called reports of chaos and disorder inside the temple misleading. According to available information, around 5.50 lakh devotees have visited the temple so far. The heavy crowd was mainly due to the special darshan of Lord Mahakal and Nagchandreshwar Temple.
